DAR ES SALAAM, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) — Four people were killed, and 16 others injured in a road accident Saturday morning as they returned from a wedding ceremony in Tanzania, police said.
George Katabazi, the Dodoma regional police commander, said the accident occurred in Chamwino District, Dodoma Region at 6 a.m. when a minibus they were traveling in from the wedding collided head-on with a fuel tanker.
Katabazi said the injured persons were admitted to Uhuru Hospital in Chamwino District, where their conditions improved.
“The minibus collided with the fuel tanker after its driver attempted to overtake another vehicle but failed to do so,” Katabazi told a news conference in the national capital of Dodoma.
